Book Club

The first meeting of the book club will be on Monday, September 14 at 7:00pm, at Debbie Cummings’ house. This is very important, as we will be selecting the books to be read and discussed for the following 8 months.

It has been suggested that we try something different this year – let each member select a book she would like to present. If we don’t get enough that way, others can be suggested.

However we decide, please be sure to attend and make your wishes known.

President's Message

Welcome all to another season of AAUW service to East County 2009-10! I hope everyone had a great summer and are ready to join together in “Breaking Through Barriers for Women and Girls”. I look forward to a productive year with exciting programs (ice cream social), fundraisers (garage sale, Barnes & Noble, gift-wrapping), and gatherings (holiday party)!

It will be great to see your smiling faces at our annual Fall Membership Luncheon scheduled for Sept. 27. I joined back in the early 80s when I was invited to a similar event. The people I met that day were friendly and seemed to be committed to improving the lives of women. I thought it would be a great opportunity to give back to the community. Now, many years later I am proud and honored to be part of a national organization that creates possibilities in so many ways every day! The friendships I’ve formed and the people I’ve met are priceless! Invite someone you know to join – just as someone did for me – and someone did for you... It will be a gift and a new generation of AAUW-ians is essential to continuing our work. My goals for our branch are to have better visibility within our Delta hometowns, besides increasing our treasury and membership.

THANK YOU for being part of my team and bringing your creativity and energy! AAUW CA’s interest is”...promoting equity for all women and girls, lifelong education and positive societal change.” I appreciate your continued support and commitment. Please feel free to send me any ideas or comments you may have. This is YOUR branch!
