President's Message
Happy New Year 2010!
Welcome to a new decade!
I think our Delta Contra Costa branch of AAUW is off to a great start! Everyone banded together and we just finished a very successful fundraising giftwrapping holiday season! $684.16 in tips/donations from 6 days before Christmas at Sports Authority in Brentwood! $138.75 from wrapping books/CDs at Barnes & Noble. $134.28 from Sports Chalet in Concord and $33.25 from Sports Chalet in Antioch for $990.44 profit in one month towards our LMC Scholarships! Plus, the Barnes & Noble Bookfair Dec. 13 made an additional $510 for a grand total of $1500.44!! The Nov. 7 garage sale also made $363. Thanks to everyone for their wonderful help and tireless contributions!
Hope you all had a nice holiday and got everything you needed to do done! It was great seeing some of you at the AAUW potluck party on Dec. 17. So, now it’s time to look ahead to another year. Instead of making resolutions and “To-Do lists” – how about making a list of things “Not-To-Do”? Tops on my list would be to not overly commit and leave some time for me to catch my breath. Also, to not let things I can’t control bother me. Importantly, to not add to the environmental problem by going green, recycling and carrying reusable non-plastic bags.
Lastly, I will not forget to appreciate and be grateful for friends, family and people like YOU who make AAUW very special.
You give me gifts everytime I see you and make be feel honored to part of this group!
